Projects and Partnerships
CAN partners with community organizations to improve family and well-being in
Beaver County. We have found that collaborating with others in the community
improves everyone's chances of success.
The following is a list of CAN's
current projects and partnerships.
Projects
Countywide Human Service Training Seminars
The Beaver County Collaborative Action Network has successfully sponsored human and community training seminars for five years. The trainings are geared toward universal human and community service topics such as teenage mental health, child abuse, cultural diversity, ethics in the workplace and school readiness.
Please visit the calendar of events section of the website for information on the next training seminar.
Leadership Forums
The Beaver County Collaborative Action Network hosts leadership forums for directors and administrators of Beaver County organizations who serve individuals and families. The forums provide a venue for directors to discuss common managerial issues, brainstorm solutions that improve the human service delivery system and network and support each other.
If you are a leader in Beaver County, please contact us so we can update you on our leadership forum schedule.
Partnerships
Beaver County Head Start and the Beaver County Early Care and Education Council
The Beaver County Collaborative Action Network partners with Beaver County Head Start and HAP Enterprises via the Beaver County Early Care and Education Council. Together, the three organizations are managing and implementing the Beaver County School Readiness Initiative.
The Beaver County Collaborative Action Network functions as an ongoing professional development and training partner for early childhood education (focusing on children ages zero to three). Beaver County CAN is also working to strengthen the connection between community-based services and school districts. The Beaver County CAN Board of Directors is represented by two area school districts and the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit.
Beaver County Head Start has an excellent reputation for early childhood education and working closely with all of the county's fifteen school districts. Beaver County Head Start offers children's classes in Ambridge, New Brighton, Aliquippa, Beaver Falls and Rochester. Head Start also sponsors parent information sessions, parent bingo, and will assist families overall to help prepare their children for school. Please visit their Website at www.beavercountyheadstart.org.
One of the Beaver County Early Care and Education Council's goals is to improve the quality of care and to communicate the importance of high quality child care to the public. BCECEC has taken the lead in the planning and implementation of the Week of the Young Child (April 3 - April 8, 2006). BCECEC also is involved in transitioning children into kindergarten and evaluating school districts' pre-kindergarten standards; Beaver County Head Start also facilitates transition and pre-kindergarten evaluation and assessment.
