The Crossroads severe weather emergency shelter (SWS) is located at Christs Evangelical Lutheran Church under the direction of Supportive Services/Harbor Point Housing and the Crossroads Advisory Board. It operates every night November 1 through March 31. The SWS is a place where homeless men can get a snack, a shower, use of laundry facilities, a place to rest, counseling on how to connect with social services for more lasting help, and socialization. Crossroads SWS hours of operation on winter weather nights is 7:00 PM-7:00 AM. The shelter is open to men 18 years of age or older; however, there may be a private space available to a homeless family, women, or women or men with children. The SWS is staffed by professionals and trained volunteers who spend the night at the site. |
