Description: The volunteer APPRISE Counselor will be trained to assist consumers (60 and older), and Pennsylvanians who are Medicare beneficiaries, with their health-care bills.

Qualifications: Must be willing to complete State mandated training. Interest in and some knowledge of the Medicare Health-care system and willing to attend on-going training in the program.

Organization: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Beaver County
Title: Big Brother, Sister or Couple
Description: mentor vulnerable school-aged children and youth ages 6 through 14. The need is especially great for men to serve as Big Brothers and married couples to serve as Big Couples to boys who comprise 90% of the wait list. Volunteers are asked to commit to seeing their assigned Little Brother or Sister an average of two to three hours every other week sharing simple activities like playing hoops, walking, hiking, shopping. Matches are made based on similarity of interests.

Organization: Crossroads Emergency Weather Shelter
Title: Laura DiMuzio
Description: The Crossroads severe weather emergency shelter (SWS) is located at Christs Evangelical Lutheran Church under the direction of Supportive Services/Harbor Point Housing and the Crossroads Advisory Board. It operates every night November 1 through March 31. The SWS is a place where homeless men can get a snack, a shower, use of laundry facilities, a place to rest, counseling on how to connect with social services for more lasting help, and socialization. Crossroads SWS hours of operation on winter weather nights is 7:00 PM-7:00 AM. The shelter is open to men 18 years of age or older; however, there may be a private space available to a homeless family, women, or women or men with children. The SWS is staffed by professionals and trained volunteers who spend the night at the site.

Qualifications: Willingness to volunteer your time to provide homeless men with a safe haven for a night. All shelter volunteers are trained in: shelter operating procedures, non-violent crisis intervention/prevention, referral procedures relevant to community resources, and first aid/CPR.

Description: The Phoenix Drop-In Center is a resocialization program for those living in Beaver County with a history of Mental Illness. We offer a friendly place where people can relax and have fun, as well as join in support groups, committee meetings, arts and crafts, and a variety of games. Greeter's Duties & Responsiblities: " Create a welcoming and stress-free environment for all members of the drop-in center by consistently displaying a positive and friendly attitude. The Phoenix Center is typically open Monday-Friday, 10:00 am  5:00 pm. The position is available in full shifts (10-5) or half days (10-2 and 2-5).
